Because Foundayo does not require special coatings to protect it from stomach acid and enhance its absorption into the bloodstream, like some other GLP-1 pills, it does not have any fasting restrictions you must follow before taking it. How long do you need to take Foundayo for?

What if I miss a dose of Foundayo?

Foundayo pills are available in 6 dosages. You’ll begin on the starting dose of 0.8mg per day, which will be increased every 30 days, until you reach the maximum daily dose of 17.2mg.

What to do if you get Foundayo side effects

Although most Foundayo side effects will go away on their own, there are things you can do to help manage them at home.

Here are some of the ways you can manage the following side effects:

• feeling or being sick – eat 6 smaller meals across the day rather than 3 large meals, stay hydrated, and get plenty of rest until you feel better
• diarrhoea – drink plenty of water, slowly introduce fibre into your diet, and speak to a pharmacist about over the counter anti-diarrhoea medications
• constipation – drink plenty of water, add fibre to your diet, and try gentle exercise, such as walking after a meal, to help keep your digestive system moving
• headaches – drink plenty of fluid to prevent dehydration and take painkillers, such as paracetamol to relieve pain
• indigestion – eat smaller, more frequent meals, avoid trigger foods like spicy, fatty, or greasy meals, and try over the counter antacids

When to seek help

If you get any side effects that are not improving, getting worse, or are difficult to manage, contact your doctor. Sometimes, Foundayo can also cause serious side effects. If you get any of the following, speak to your doctor immediately, or in an emergency go to A&E or call 999:

• inflamed pancreas – signs include severe stomach pain that radiates to the back and does not go away
• bowel obstruction – severe stomach pain, a swollen stomach, being sick, or not being able to pass wind or open your bowels
• severe constipation – bloating, and feeling unable to open your bowels
• serious allergic reactions – signs include swelling of your lips, eyes, tongue, or throat, difficulty breathing or swallowing, cold skin, feeling dizzy or weak
• increased chance of food or liquid entering the lungs during surgery or other procedures – tell your doctor or surgeon that you are taking Foundayo before surgery
• kidney problems – signs include dehydration caused by being sick or having diarrhoea, and can sometimes require treatment such as kidney dialysis

Foundayo is taken alongside a reduced-calorie diet and exercise plan, and is suitable for adults with a body mass index (BMI) of:

• 30 or more
• 27 to 30 with at least one weight-related health condition, such as prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, or obstructive sleep apnoea

Who is Foundayo not suitable for?

Foundayo can delay gastric emptying and potentially affect the absorption of other oral medications so it’s best to check with your doctor if any additional monitoring is recommended when starting Foundayo.

Some medications can increase the concentration of Foundayo in your blood, such as:

• clarithromycin to treat bacterial infections
• itraconazole to treat fungal infections
• ritonavir or telaprevir to treat viral infections
• ciclosporin for immunosuppression

Some medications can reduce the amount of Foundayo in your blood, such as:

• carbamazepine to treat seizures
• bosentan for high blood pressure in the lungs
• efavirenz to treat viral infections
• rifampicin to treat bacterial infections
• phenytoin for seizures
• St. John’s wort, a herbal preparation used to manage depression and anxiety
