Spedra can cause side effects in some patients. If the likelihood of side effects or interaction with other drugs you are currently taking is too high, our doctors may not issue a prescription and you will receive a refund.
Common side effects of Spedra:
- headaches
- flushes or redness
- nasal congestion
Uncommon Spedra side effects:
- tiredness or sleepiness
- back pain
- dizziness
- blurred vision
- increased heartbeat or palpitations
- sinus congestion
- shortness of breath
- changes in your liver that may show up in blood tests
- changes to your heartbeat
- indigestion, nausea or vomiting
This list is not exhaustive; for a full list of possible side effects, please read the patient information leaflet provided with your tablets. If you notice side effects while taking Spedra that are not included in this leaflet, please consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Stop taking Spedra and seek medical help immediately if you experience:
- an erection lasting over 4 hours (known as priapism, this condition can cause permanent damage to your penis and will require immediate attention)
- any changes in vision to one or both eyes
- any changes to your hearing, including tinnitus, partial or full loss of hearing
Do not take Spedra if:
- you have an allergy to avanafil or any other ingredient in Spedra
- you take medication for angina or get chest pain on exertion
- you develop chest pain during sex
- you take medication for HIV or AIDS
- you have a heart condition
- you have high or low blood pressure uncontrolled by medication
- you have liver or kidney problems
- you have had a stroke or heart attack within the last half a year
- you have an eye condition, for example NAION
- you have have a family history of eye conditions, for example retinitis pigmentosa
- you have any deformation of the penis, for example Peyronie's disease, cavernosal fibrosis or penis angulation
You should always inform your doctor of any medical conditions you have or have had, to ensure they will not be affected by Spedra. If you develop a new condition since being prescribed Spedra, please inform your doctor.
You must tell your doctor if:
- you have a heart condition
- you have or have had priapism (an erection lasting over 4 hours, often found in men with sickle cell anaemia, leukaemia or multiple myeloma)
- you suffer from a bleeding disorder such as haemophilia
- you have an active peptic ulceration
Can I drive or operate machinery while taking Spedra?
Spedra should not stop most men from driving or working with machines. However, some men experience dizziness after taking Spedra. If Spedra causes any side effects at all, from mild dizziness to vision impairment, do not drive, work with machinery or engage in any strenuous activity.
