Levitra is an erectile dysfunction tablet that is effective for up to 74% of men who try it. It starts working within an hour of taking it, and the effects can last for up to 6 hours. It works in the same way as Viagra, by increasing the blood flow to your penis, helping you to get and keep an erection. The active ingredient in Levitra is Vardenafil, which is available as a generic medication.

Please note: Levitra has been discontinued and is no longer offered by Superdrug Online Doctor.

How it Works

More Information

How does Levitra work?

Just like other popular medications for erectile dysfunction (including Viagra and Cialis), Levitra causes the walls of your blood vessels to relax. This allows for improved blood flow to your penis, which helps you to achieve and maintain an erection when sexually stimulated. It will not cause you to get an erection if you are not thinking about sex or are sexually stimulated.

What causes erectile dysfunction?

Most men will experience erectile dysfunction at some point in their lives and it is nothing to be embarrassed about. Erectile dysfunction can be caused by the following factors:

  • psychological issues
  • physical issues
  • medication

Psychological issues, such as anxiety or depression, are amongst the most common causes of erectile dysfunction in younger men. Some men find that taking erectile dysfunction medication alleviates anxiety and boosts their confidence, allowing them to recover from the stress-related symptoms of erectile dysfunction.

Certain medications can also cause erectile dysfunction as a side effect. These include some common drugs for high blood pressure. If you think a medication you are currently taking may be affecting your sexual ability, discuss this with your doctor, who may be able to prescribe a different treatment.

How does Levitra work?

Many people believe that erectile dysfunction treatments, including Levitra, increase your sex drive and automatically give you an erection. This is not true; ED medications simply make it easier for you to achieve and maintain an erection and therefore enjoy sex when aroused.

Levitra should be taken at least 30 minutes before sex and its effect will last for up to four hours. This does not mean you will have an erection for four hours, but that you should be more responsive to sexual stimulation for four hours. If you do have an erection that lasts for four hours or more, see your doctor or a health professional immediately.

Dosage

Which Levitra dosage should I take?

Levitra is available in 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg and 20mg dosages.

For most men, a dosage of up to 10mg will be more than adequate to achieve the desired effect. If Levitra doesn't work as well as you expected it to on a lower dosage, try to take the same dosage on a different occasion. Other factors, such as your anxiety or high expectations, may play a part. Try to relax after taking Levitra. If after up to four separate attempts on the same dosage, you still find it difficult to get an erection that lasts long enough to enjoy sex, then you should speak to your doctor. Your doctor may then increase the dosage.

How do I take Levitra?

Levitra should be taken with a glass of water. It may take longer to start working if you have just eaten a meal, especially if the meal was fatty (e.g. fast food). You can still eat before taking Levitra, but if you want to ensure your medication begins working as soon as possible, avoid fatty meals or eat an hour or two before taking Levitra.

Levitra's effect should not be lessened by small amounts of alcohol. However, most men find that alcohol impairs their ability to get an erection, so it is not recommended to drink while taking Levitra. Alcohol also increases your risk of side effects such as dizziness.

Can I get Levitra without a prescription?

No. Levitra is a prescription-only medication, as it can interact with other drugs or affect medical conditions you may already have. The internet is full of sites claiming to offer pharmaceuticals without a prescription, but it is illegal to sell Levitra without a prescription and these companies are unregulated, unlicensed and may not provide you with the genuine product. It is very risky to buy medication illegally online and, although some men find it embarrassing to speak to their doctors about ED, it is really the only safe way to ensure you are not harming your health.

You can order a prescription online from Superdrug Online Doctor by filling out a brief form providing our qualified doctors with enough information to judge your suitability. You will receive your prescription in the post and you may then take it to a pharmacy and buy Levitra legally.
