What are the symptoms of a tension headache?
Tension headaches often come on in the afternoon and get progressively more painful as the day goes on.
In some cases, for example when caused by sleeping in an awkward position or tooth grinding, tension headaches can come on early in the day.
Some of the most commonly reported symptoms include:
- Mild to moderate pain which affects the front, top or side of your head
- A feeling of pressure in your head
- Insomnia and sleep problems
- Chronic tiredness
- Difficulty concentrating
If you experience chronic tension headaches you might find that the other symptoms vary in intensity throughout the day, although the pain will stay.
