Studies have shown that age does indeed play a role in erectile function. Erectile dysfunction (ED) is much more common in older men. However, this doesn’t mean that problems with erectile function become inevitable as you age, or that they don’t happen to younger men.

On average, ED affects men as follows:

  • 7-8% of men aged 20-40
  • 11% of men aged 40-50
  • 40% of men aged 60+
  • 50% of men aged 70+

The condition is very common, and most men will experience it at some point during their lives. ED is the term for when a man has difficulty getting or keeping an erection, but it is only treated as a problem when considered so by the man and/or his partner.
